Because I'm sure we'll get some members who either haven't posted on a forum in awhile, or possibly never at all, here's some basic forum etiquette to help us all get along! Forum culture generally moves at a slower pace than most social media does these days- it's okay not to rush and let things breathe! On the plus side, while you'll probably never find that one tweet you saw last week ever again, forums stick around for years to come and have a robust search system to find that particular post you're looking for even if you don't remember what thread it was in!
Don't double post
'Double posting' is when you post twice in a row without anyone else posting in between. While this is normal on discord and other chat/text apps, it is generally frowned upon in forums because each post will push the thread it's in to the top of the forum listing. Instead, simply edit your previous post to include whatever you forgot/wanted to add. If 24 hours pass without anyone else posting, then you may do so again.
The exception to this rule is if you're starting a thread you know you're going to need multiple posts at the top of, for example, if you're making a thread about your Warden/Inquisitor/Hawke etc (sample)
Quick Reply
The 'quick reply' box at the bottom of a thread is basically what it says on the tin-- a place to respond to the thread without going to a separate reply page. It still does all the same things you would do on the normal reply page but if you want any formatting you'll have to remember the bbc code off the top of the head as it doesn't have any of the usual formatting buttons.
Shoutbox
The shoutbox is the chat window that shows up at the bottom of every page in the forum. It's the same chat portal on every page and you can basically treat it like a mini discord if you're wanting to exchange messages with fellow members more immediately than in the forum proper. Just keep in mind that anyone on the site can see what you're saying!
Set an avatar
'Avatar' is just the old-school term for a profile picture and you can add one under 'profile > edit profile' at the very top of the page. This isn't mandatory, simply recommended so it's easier to tell at a glance who is posting. Tradition is to use one of whatever your current favorite character is, doesn't have to be from Dragon Age!
Add a signature
Again, not mandatory by any means, but a fun aspect of forum culture that social media has sadly left behind. You can make banners or buttons that will show up after each post you make like a signature. Try googling around for ideas, just don't make them too large or they're obnoxious to everyone else, lol. You'll need to host the image itself somewhere else then copy the link to it and put the the bbc code "img link here without quotes"[/b][/img] into the signature section under profile > personal.
